Choosing a PHP version for your hosting

Hosting panels often let you pick the PHP version per domain. Picking the newest supported one is one of the cheapest performance upgrades you can make.

  • Speed: each major PHP release has made typical web requests faster, and OPcache keeps compiled code in memory.
  • Security: old PHP versions stop receiving security fixes. Running one exposes your whole site.
  • Compatibility: modern frameworks and libraries require recent PHP. Our products need PHP 8.2 or newer.

How to switch

In cPanel open Select PHP Version or MultiPHP Manager, choose 8.2 or higher for your domain, and enable the extensions your application lists. Reload your site and check the error log. If something breaks, switch back while you investigate — the change is instant.
